Nikki Phan consistently goes above and beyond in service to Golden West College students and campus colleagues. She is a stand-out for her tireless work ethic, her kindness, and her positive energy, but it is her sincere care and concern for our growing population of international students that is especially appreciated. It is clear to anyone who observes her working with students that their well-being is her top priority. She is sensitive to the challenges that new international students face – an unfamiliar host culture, the complexities of navigating a foreign education system, language barriers, and a sense of social isolation. From welcoming new students at orientation, engaging and guiding them every day in the office, and providing a safe, social space for them as staff advisor for the International Club, Nikki’s support makes all the difference for our international students at GWC. And it’s never more obvious than when our graduates’ younger brothers and sisters arrive at the college and ask for Nikki! For all these reasons, and many more, Nikki Phan is deserving of our deepest appreciation, and the honor of recognition as Employee of the Month for October.
