Measure M Construction Update: 9-16-16

Measure M Construction Update:

Student Services Project:  The main construction access road is the road between the Native Garden and Auto Tech all the way to Cosmetology.  There will be periodic deliveries of sand and gravel for utility trenches.  We will be starting the trenching for the building foundation systems the week of 9/19.  This will include periodic equipment deliveries as well as trucks hauling spoils from the site.  Please be cautious of construction traffic and follow safety directions from workers directing traffic.  Noise levels onsite will be moderate due to dump trucks, street sweeper and other mechanical equipment.

Criminal Justice Project:  Building plans went to DSA for review and approval on 5/19.  We anticipate demo activities to commence sometime in October once we receive approvals from the State.  The construction fencing for this project will encompass the Community Center and the entire green belt adjacent to the Administration Building, Community Center and Access Road. Additionally, this project encompasses the dirt lot that is adjacent to Parking Lot G.  The access road will remain open for the majority of the construction project will short periods of closure for work on the road.

Math/Science Project:  Building plans went to DSA for review and approval on 5/17.  Construction fencing has been installed around the old Auto Body compound, Graphics, old Child Care and a portion of the Nursing Quad.  Please note that the parking lot sidewalk west of the project is closed for the duration of the project.  A temporary pedestrian walkway has been created in the parking lot to accommodate all pedestrian traffic through this area.   The initial phase of the parking lot sewer line work is complete.  Starting the week of 9/19phase 2 of 3 will commence which shifts the drive aisle closures and traffic control measures south.(see attached)  Phase 3 of that work will happen the following week with paving of the trenches.   The sidewalk between Nursing and Public Safety will remain closed the week of 9/19.  Building demo is ongoing and will continue to be loud for a few more weeks.  This will include significant noise levels across the project site but highest for Community Education, Public Safety, Nursing, Health Science and LRC buildings.  The noise will include loud chipping and breaking of concrete and possible vibrations.  Please be cautious of all construction traffic and workers entering and leaving the jobsite gates, especially on the west side.

Security Project:  The Contractor has been onsite with vendors planning the schedule and clarifying access for the activities while long lead materials are being ordered.  Utility marking has been taking place in the parking lots and quad for this work.  Boring activities are scheduled to commence in the parking lots after 9/19.  More details to follow after detailed schedule and phasing has been reviewed with the Contractor.
