Measure M Construction Update: 8-26-16

Measure M Construction Update:

Student Services Project:  Soil import resumes on Monday, 8/29 and should be complete by Wednesday, 8/31.  This will include a series of dump trucks and a street sweeper traveling north of the Math Science and Student Center into the job site most of the day.  There will be a gas shutdown early Monday morning, 8/29, which will impact Athletics training room, Fine Arts, Cosmetology, Student Services Annex and Theatre until 7:30am.  Noise levels onsite will be moderate due to dump trucks, street sweeper and other mechanical equipment.

Criminal Justice Project:  Building plans went to DSA for review and approval on 5/19.  We anticipate demo activities to commence sometime in October once we receive approvals from the State.  The construction fencing for this project will encompass the Community Center and the entire green belt adjacent to the Administration Building, Community Center and Access Road. Additionally, this project encompasses the dirt lot that is adjacent to Parking Lot G. (see attached map)

Math/Science Project:  Building plans went to DSA for review and approval on 5/17.  Construction fencing has been installed around the old Auto Body compound, Graphics, old Child Care and a portion of the Nursing Quad. (see attached map) Please note that the parking lot sidewalk west of the project will be closed for the duration of the project.  A temporary pedestrian walkway will be created today Friday, 8/26, in the parking lot to accommodate pedestrian traffic through this area.  Hazardous material abatement will continue next week along with tree removal and other underground utility work on site. Building demolition work may commence sometime next week after abatement is complete.  In coming weeks there will be the need to close off the drive aisle west of the project to install a new sewer line.  These dates will be posted when we know the duration and have communicated with all affected parties.  Reminder note that access into the construction zone is not permitted.  Noise levels at the site will be high due to the demo work starting.

Security Project:  The Contractor has been onsite with vendors planning the schedule and clarifying access for the activities while long lead materials are being ordered.  Today Friday, 8/26, potholing will be taking place in various parking lots in preparation for boring activities to run new conduit for new emergency phones and security cameras.  This project will work around the campus activities and class schedules.  To be completed by the end of the year.
