Measure M Construction Update: 9-2-16

Measure M Construction Update:

Student Services Project:  The main construction access road is the road between the Native Garden and Auto Tech all the way to Cosmetology.  Soil import is scheduled to be complete today Friday, 9/2.  There will be a periodic deliveries of sand and gravel for utility trenches.  Please be cautious of construction traffic and follow safety directions from workers directing traffic.  Noise levels onsite will be moderate due to dump trucks, street sweeper and other mechanical equipment.

Criminal Justice Project:  Building plans went to DSA for review and approval on 5/19.  We anticipate demo activities to commence sometime in October once we receive approvals from the State.  The construction fencing for this project will encompass the Community Center and the entire green belt adjacent to the Administration Building, Community Center and Access Road. Additionally, this project encompasses the dirt lot that is adjacent to Parking Lot G.

Math/Science Project:  Building plans went to DSA for review and approval on 5/17.  Construction fencing has been installed around the old Auto Body compound, Graphics, old Child Care and a portion of the Nursing Quad.  Please note that the parking lot sidewalk west of the project is closed for the duration of the project.  A temporary pedestrian walkway has been created in the parking lot to accommodate all pedestrian traffic through this area.   Starting the week of 9/12 a portion of the entire drive aisle will be closed in the parking lot west of the jobsite for installation of a new sewer line.  More details will be provided as to the routing of traffic through this area and the specific dates.  On Tuesday, 9/6, the sidewalk between Nursing and Public Safety will be closed for approximately 7 working days (M-F) for a water tie-in for the new building.(See Attached Map).  Building demo for the project will commence on Tuesday, 9/6.  This will include significant noise levels across the project site but highest for Community Education, Nursing, Health Science and LRC buildings.  The noise will include loud chipping and breaking of concrete and possible vibrations.  On Thursday, 9/8, there will be a gas line tie in the morning which will include a short controlled gas bleed off which means there may be a smell of gas north of the site.

Security Project:  The Contractor has been onsite with vendors planning the schedule and clarifying access for the activities while long lead materials are being ordered.  Boring activities will commence in the parking lots the week of 9/12.  More details to follow.
