Celebration of Life for GWC Professor Lou Mikelson to be held June 2nd

Lou Mikelson, Anatomy professor in the Math/Science Division passed away on April 30, 2018.  Lou taught Anatomy for 40 plus years at GWC.  He also was an instructor in the Physical Education Department teaching Karate.  Lou was an integral part of the campus, as his courses were required for the GWC Nursing Program and other programs in the medical field.  Many of Lou’s students went on to become nurses, physicians and pharmacists, always keeping in touch to let him know about their lives.  In addition to his science expertise, Lou wrote several books on his many myriad interests, including his recently published book entitled: America: Promise and Peril (December, 2017).  When Lou passed he was in the process of writing a book on education.

There will be an open house held at the home of Lou Mikelson and Laurena Muzic-Mikelson located at 7322 Rockmont Avenue, Westminster, CA 92683 on June 2, 2018 from 1:00-5:00 pm to celebrate his life and share stories and anecdotes from his many friends and loved ones.  The GWC Math/Science Division will be planting a special tree or desert plant in honor of Lou Mikelson.  Donations may be made to the GWC California Native Garden.  Please contact the Foundation Office at (714)895-8316 with questions.
